A Blue Family Christmas December 6, 2024

Welcome to A Blue Family Christmas!  Each year during the holiday season, Blue Thanksgiving sponsors officers and their families who are suffering financially due to catastrophic medical diagnosis, injury or life-altering events.  Working overtime and part-time jobs, has become an all too common necessity among our law enforcement personnel, and for officers who are unable to work not only their regular duties with the agencies where they serve, but their part time jobs, the financial difficulties can be overwhelming.  it is our goal to help those who are suffering with that lost income.  Every year, Blue Thanksgiving, Inc., helps officers and their families who are dealing with some pretty challenging things. Each year, funds raised during our Blue Family Christmas Campaign go to help these families, and we are proud to say that this marks our 6th annual holiday campaign.

The Blue Family Christmas campaign culminates each year with a festive gala where officers and their supporters can come together for a great cause .  This exciting evening provides an opportunity to celebrate the holiday season together while raising awareness and financial support for our local Law Enforcement Officers. This year marks our sixth annual Blue Family Christmas and we are so very proud and grateful for the support shown by this community and local businesses toward all our officers and especially those whom we have sponsored in years past.

Our Sponsored Officers

Sergeant Jeffrey P. Perry – Cobb County Police Department

and

Lieutenant Roger Nalls – Cobb County Police SWAT

To learn more about these two incredible heroes and the challenging battles they’re currently facing, please scroll down for their inspiring stories. Both of these officers have shown tremendous resilience and dedication to serving their communities. Now, through the Blue Family Christmas Gala, we have the opportunity to give back and support them in their time of need.

We are honored to introduce our second sponsored officer for this year’s Blue Family Christmas Campaign, Lieutenant Roger L. Nalls. Those who know Roger and his family understand the incredible ways they have devoted themselves to others. For those who haven’t had the chance to meet them, we want to share why they’re so important to our community — and why we are proud to support them during this challenging time. Roger is the Tactical Team Lieutenant with Cobb County Police Department’s SWAT Division and has served the community faithfully for over 20 years. A leader driven by compassion, Roger has never hesitated to show up for his family, friends, and neighbors. Alongside his wife Moni, a dedicated nurse with 28 years of service, they have raised five children and enjoy two grandchildren. Together, they are known for being the first to step up whenever help is needed. Several months ago, Roger received a life-altering diagnosis: a rare form of metastatic bone cancer. His journey has involved months of intensive treatment, and he faces at least another year of chemotherapy and regular trips to MD Anderson in Texas. The ongoing treatments require extended time away from work, and the travel and medical expenses are significant. We invite you to join us in supporting the Nalls family by making a donation through our official donation page at https://www.flipcause.com/secure/cause_pdetails/MjIyMDc0. You can also support by purchasing tickets or sponsorships for our Blue Family Christmas Gala on December 6 or donating through this website. Together, let’s come alongside Roger and his family as they face this journey. Thank you for helping us honor a man who has dedicated his life to serving our community.

Sgt. Jeffrey P. Perry has dedicated more than 30 years to serving and protecting the community. A graduate of Auburn University with a BA in Russian History (1982), Sgt. Perry also holds a master’s degree in Soviet and Eastern European Studies from the University of Kansas (1993). Before joining the Cobb County Police Department in 1994, he served as a Captain in the U.S. Army, where he honed his leadership skills. Throughout his career, Sgt. Perry has been recognized for his bravery and dedication, receiving the Medal of Valor and being named Officer of the Year in 2001. He has also been a Field Training Officer (1997) and earned numerous accolades including the CCPD Marksmanship Gold Bar (2017) and Blue Fitness Bar, which he maintained for over two decades until his illness. Sgt. Perry is not only a dedicated officer but also a passionate athlete. He ran more than 25 marathons between 2002 and 2012 and cycled over 250 miles each year from 2011 to 2018 as part of the Police Unity Tour, a charity ride from New Jersey to Washington, DC. In December 2021, Sgt. Perry contracted COVID-19, leading to a series of severe health complications, including cardiac, pulmonary, and renal failure. In 2022, he was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease Scleroderma, which caused multiple organ failures and left him reliant on dialysis. Despite these challenges, Sgt. Perry continues to work for CCPD while awaiting a kidney transplant, having been placed on the Emory Kidney Transplant List in March 2024. Sgt. Perry’s strength, resilience, and unwavering commitment to his profession and community inspire all who know him. The Blue Family Christmas Gala is honored to support Sgt. Perry in his time of need, and we invite anyone who wishes to assist Sgt. Perry and other officers in similar circumstances to consider donating. Donations can be made by sending checks to PO Box 5238, Marietta, GA 30061 or by visiting https://www.flipcause.com/secure/cause_pdetails/MjIyMDc0.
